The project had no traditional manufacturer, no large municipal budget, and no standard supply chain. Every material decision had to be resourceful. The design needed to work within what the community could build, fund, and source locally, while still meeting CSA Z614 safety standards and producing something that would last.

Real Life designed the playground around materials salvaged from the land itself. Old growth tamarack logs were recovered from forest clearing operations for natural gas extraction. Pine timbers were milled from trees killed by the mountain pine beetle. Community members timber framed and constructed the equipment by hand. Real Life donated its design time. The result is a playground that could only exist in this place, built by the people who call it home.

A volunteer-built playground in a hamlet of a few dozen people that has become a destination for travellers crossing Canada on the Alaska Highway.
